So even fame fortune and sex drugs rock n roll could not keep Nikki Sixx from catching a case of junkie envy It continues to amaze me how many people check in to rehab as party addicts and leave WANTING to try heroin Many are admitted by a nudge from the judge from one too many DUIs or some other external motivation and in no time they re hopscotching around the facility and asking everybody they meet and who ll listen what s your drug of choice Meanwhile those with real addiction disorders e g chronic heroin addicts or bridge dwelling alcoholics alcohol only represent the real face of addiction misery dispair hopelessness and extreme unrelenting dysphoria For junkies this all occurs AFTER acute withdrawal and 14 22 days into treatment And Cravings these are cellular cravings where every cell in the body and each organ system cry out for homeostasis via a central nervous system itself a bundled mess of electrical overload misfired synapes and anxiety so bad that twenty valium 10mg make you feel drunk and dope sick at the same time but No sleep Then there s the obligatory know little addiction counselors who never having been heroin addicts themselves always state in some group or lecture Heroin withdrawal is like a really bad flu it s really not that bad you can t die from it To which I say 1 Did you ever see someone rob a drug store because they had a really bad case of the FLU And 2 The number one cause of drug related suicides attempts and successes by non dual diagnosed patients occurs in junkies during acute withdrawals AND post acute withdrawals And 3 A heroin addict 50 yrs old in acute withdrawal is four times more likely to die from Cardiac arrest Carotid aneurisms Ischemic cerebral vascular stroke or Cerebral perfusion than a well fed quietly resting cocaine addict after a ten day/ten night crack run So Nikki my boy stick with your Crue and make music and leave the Smack addiction autobiography to the real junkies at least any who are alive

Very good book let my son read he has rock stardom dream told him you can have that without drugs it was very good for him to read it and hear what drugs can lead you into and trap you there few survive this kind of addiction my brother did not survive and died at 35

If you just like to read this is the book to read
I remember watching an MTV or VH1 show about drugs and bands and seeing Nikki talk about the fateful night when he died only to come home and immediately shoot up again waking up with the needle still in his arm So to read this book and see the road that brought him to that moment and hear it in more detail was really intriguing Not one point of this book disappointed me
The book itself is a work of art The design of it paints the picture of a dark time and complements the storyline It s obvious some serious heart and soul went into every part of this book Even the paper is quality stuff
What s really amazing about this book is how completely honest everyone is I really admire not just Nikki for being so open but everyone involved I love how the entries from Nikki have additions of others who were there alongside him at that moment Not just Tommy Mick and Vince but other artists like Slash or his mgmt team/family The Vanity ones are way out there although I like the one where Niiki adds a huh afterwards Nice But everyone is so brutally honest about what was happening then not just to Nikki but their own involvement and doings And Nikki really let his emotions and true feelings be seen for what they are Even when he was a junkie at his worst I found myself really admiring him for not lying to himself He is not a man of excuses
I started high school to Shout at the Devil and Crue was my first metal love musically Their Decade to Decadence greatest hits CD is one of my all time fave metal CDs This book is set Dec 86 to Dec 87 which was my senior year It was really cool to think back as to what I remember going on in my life and thinking wow this is when this was going on I saw them in 2005 and I m really glad I did Just like I m really glad I found this book
