An excellent read for anyone who has just received bad news and has started to feel sorry for themselves Yes we need to be concerned but we also need to know that there is hope We also need to know in our hearts that God would never wish these sicknesses on us I think Kelly did a a good job writing thses story
>> The Middle Place
I enjoyed really enjoyed The Middle Place I found Kelly Corrigan to be an author who was authentic and insightful Her honesty about her emotions insecurities and reactions to the events she was experiencing felt very genuine
The book is a study of a close father / daughter relationship and how it impacts the growth development and perspective of the daughter She incorporates memories from her childhood and current day adult experiences to reflect upon the impact of that relationship At times I found myself emotionally moved by her thoughts of herself her family of origin and the parental relationship she has with her children
The subject matter also caused me to pause and reflect on myself and my own circumstances As one who struggled with my relationship with my own father I always find it fascinating to get an inside view of how other women deal with their fathers
The Middle Place is a good label for that time period in our all of our lives An exemplary tale of growing up while you are already grown up
Hats off to you Kelly I enjoyed the book
>> A charasmatic Father Daughter duo both have cancer
Typically I am a fiction reader but we are reading this in my book club this month You can t pick apart Kelly because she s a real in the flesh person and people aren t as perfect as the characters we can create for fiction
I work in radiology so I was interested in the medical/techical parts of the cancer and the treatments It was accurate and put a story behind some of the cancer patients I see and made me realize again just how much patients try to read your facial expressions and body language
Like other reviewers I thought the first half was the easiest to read I enjoyed Kelly s honesty and humor She s someone I would like as a friend a interesting character Sure she s a bit selfish and immature at times but aren t we all
I appreciate the sharing of her father daughter stories it has reingnited and rekindled memories of me and my Dad
I don t know if Greenie is still living but I am sure he is very proud of his daughter for protraying him in such a positive and memorable way He s a great father
I think the writing and journaling helped Kelly keep her wits and heal as the family fought cancer from opposite sides of the country
I probably wouldn t have read this book on my own but I am not sorry I did read it if you have a friend or sister with breast cancer
