Into the Wild
>> Loved it
I loved this book and thought it was definitely better than the movie although I enjoyed the movie also I can definitely relate to his reasons for leaving home It hits close to home knowing a couple people that would attempt something like this I am planning on reading it again when I have the time
I can t remember if it is from the book or the movie or both but this is one of my favorite quotes
Some people feel like they don t deserve love They walk away quietly into empty spaces trying to close the gaps of the past
>> Blind Indifference
I cried Why Why Would Chris do this and why was he so alone and tormented in his young life No I cried for myself realizing I had wasted my time reading this meager attempt at trying to explain something to people that even Chris McCandless did not comprehend Sure he was a dreamer searching for something But who among isn t that way But we are such idiots as to basically starve ourselves to death or so stupid as to not realize that you don t go even 800 yards off a highway and Into The Wild and try and prove it without a plan for either survival or recovery Quite frankly after reading this sentimental version of what is a very sad but pathetic existence and waste of a young life I am sorry that I didn t die of starvation in reading the book it certainly didn t feed my mind or soul with anything other than pity for both Chris and the Author Forget the book Rent the DVD and then get distracted so you can say you watched it and won t feel guilty about perpetuating the idiocy of this type of drama
>> The movie made me read it
I saw the movie first and just knew I had to read the book I still have mixed feelings about this guy I envy his nerve but he was too smart to have been so ill prepared Maybe he was a little arrogant and spoiled I also question why he seemingly wasn t fishing more I recommend this book but I am always drawn to non fiction I like the way the author adds his own experiences as well as those of other similar characters It s a very good read
