This book traces the author s intellectual quest to faith in Jesus Christ What started as a challenge to disprove Christianity s claims the quest turned out to be a life changing experience for the author Once an atheist who dismissed Christianity as a mere elaborate myth the author was challenged by some of his Christian friends to examine all the evidence for Jesus s claims By doing that not only did the author found out the abundance of evidence for Jesus s claims he also accepted Christ in his life became a believer and saw his whole life change for the good
This book outlines the essential chapters in Christian Apologetics a field of Christian theology that presents the historical scientific and philosophical arguments to defend the faith and correct misconceptions about Christianity The author deals with subjects such as the historical reliability of the scriptures the claims of Jesus and how they cannot be disregarded as fables and how he is different from all other religious figures the life of the apostles and disciples who tolerated persecution and martyrdom for what they saw and heard and the indirect evidence we learn from their changed lives the amazing old testament prophecies which were fulfilled by no other than Jesus etc
It is a great introduction to the field of Apologetics for those who have never dealt with that subject before and for those who are seeking answers to their doubts especially concerning the figure of Jesus it does not tackle the question of God s existence creation The book deals with most of the arguments about Jesus in a very easy to follow style even for the uninitiated in theology and the beginner skeptic But don t expect this book to be exhaustive there is a LOT more to be said and much more to be examined It is a great way to break the ice of skepticism and you will find it an enjoyable read in your pursuits for answers If you have questions about who Jesus was and why should you even bother to check him out read this book Your thirst will not be quenched but it will give you a proper outline and a good roadmap for your upcoming quest and reading

More Than a Carpenter is a book that defends the Christian faith The authors pack a lot of information into this slim book but it s written with a conversational tone and is easy to read and understand
The authors use common questions they ve been asked during talks on this topic to start most of the sections then they answer them using information they ve discovered themselves or by quoting other experts In this revised edition they added updated material and a new section on science to answer newer objections that have been raised
They convincingly answer the most common objections or doubts about the Bible and Jesus I wish they had put chapter six directly after chapter one since a reader can validly criticize the Lord Liar or Lunatic argument if you haven t already proven that the Bible does accurately record the words and actions of Jesus
The main questions answered were Did Jesus really claim to be God Can t he just be a good moral teacher Doesn t science prove that the Bible is wrong Atheists can be moral and religion has caused the worst suffering in the world so shouldn t we get rid of it Wasn t the New Testament written long after Jesus lived so how can we believe it s a reliable account of what happened
It also brought up how the disciples changed from thinking they were wrong about Jesus and hiding in fear to proclaiming a risen Messiah the missing body of Jesus that no one ever brought out to prove the disciples wrong and the change of Saul/Paul from hunting down those who believed in Jesus as the Messiah to preaching that Jesus was the Messiah Also evidence that Jesus really did die and really did come back from the dead that Jesus really was the Messiah using Old Testament prophesy and why Jesus is the only way to heaven
I d highly recommend this book to all Christians and to those who have honest questions

This book does a great job and presenting some of the compelling arguments of proof of the validity of God s word
It is a great intro to these topics It is not an in depth study
The only suggestion I have is to read it in its entirety it has to be read completely to obtain the complete experience
