But even if that patient s utterances AREN T pretense or delusion their paranormal educational value for lack of a better term is still low This is because author Brian Weiss suggests reincarnation and mind reading may both be real or either may be real And due to Dr Weiss s poor experimental conditions his patient observations can be attributed to either of those processes i e past life recollections or nonlocal mind reading remnants Thus his account MANY LIVES MANY MASTERS fails on its own terms It isn t a reliable study of either reincarnation or mind reading
I guess the lesson for other pseudo scientists is when analyzing past life recollections remember to first control for nonlocal mind reading when analyzing nonlocal mind reading remember to first control for past life recollections Also control for pretense and control for delusion Do not follow Dr Weiss s example of MANY LIVES MANY MASTERS not many controls
See it doesn t bother me that Dr Weiss investigated an eerie perhaps supernatural phenomenon I m just upset that he seemed to do it in a manner that stops us from genuinely learning about it

If you are new to the subject of regressions and past lives this gives you a good introduction from a psychologist point of view Easy to read and very comprehensible
